How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have been able to rest. Before GiveDirectly came for enrollment, I used to look for firewood in the forest and later sell it to people and the income was always low despite the tiresome work. After I received the transfer, I was able to buy two dairy cows that has enabled me to earn income through milk sales hence I no longer have to sell firewood anymore in order to cater for my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by giving us financial aid that enabled us to transform our lives in different ways.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
when I received my second transfer, I spent a good amount to buy a dairy cow as a way of expanding my dairy keeping project. This will lead to an increase in milk production thus increase in my income from this project. Also, I bought three sets of seats since the ones I had were few. I spent the remaining amount to buy food and clothes for my family after paying school fees for my children.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I no longer worry much about what to eat in my house. This is because I managed to buy maize and rice in large quantities to push me for a longer period of time. Besides, I more happier owning the two bulls and in the near future, I will start earning from them through ploughing other people's farms
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfers, I was very happy because it was the first time getting that amount of money. I felt that all my problems were now over. My son too was equally happy because his dream of completing the teaching course was already fulfilled
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the money I received to purchase two bulls for ploughing. With this, it will generate some income to the family in future. I also paid college fees for my son in a teachers college, bought foodstuff and other household necessities

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to own a dairy cow.I have four young children and every day I am forced to buy milk from my neighbours for them.My only source of income is my small piece of land therefore I have to strain alot to get enough money for all the needs as well as milk.I feel that if i have one dairy cow,I will cut on costs as well as even have some milk to sell hence some extra income
What is the happiest part of your day?
I work on my farm all day.At 4.00 pm,am done for the day and I get time to rest.At this time,my young children will be back from school and we sit under a shed a talk.Having that moment to rest and spend time to rest makes this the happiest part of my day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being a farmer,I fully depend on my farm.It is a small piece of land and the current weather conditions as well as crop diseases have not made life easier.I have had poor harvests for two years now and this has forced my spouse and I to have to do casual jobs to provide for our children. This is the biggest hardship I have faced
