How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I now sleep well.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has done well through giving unconditional cash transfers to the poor. I do not see anything that Give Directly has not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I got my second transfer, I used it for purchasing building materials like timber, bricks towards the construction of a permanent house. I also hired land worth 500,000ugx and the balance of the money amounting to 693,000ugx was taken by the spouse.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfers worth 1,700,000ugx, I purchased 10 iron sheets which we want to use to build a permanent house, a mattress, a bed, a pair of bed sheets, a blanket, clothes for the family, in order to improve on our living conditions and the balance of the money has been kept in order to purchase bricks for building a permanent house for the family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When my first transfer came in, It found me in sorrow- mourning my mother and when i saw it in the phone, it gave me the joy I had never experienced in life which put a smile on my face.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I am proud because am now smartly dressed compared to the time before I received Give directly money. I can now change clothes twice in a day which has not been a case before I received my first transfer.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is about the sickness of my mother .she is suffering from about three diseases,that is to say diabetes, pressure and ulcers which makes me to spend the little money I get for trying to treat her. and my family sleeps without food some times.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is morning ,when I get up and know that all my children are not sick .
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is going to help me to purchase household properties and remaining balance I will use for buying food.
