How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because I managed to improve my farming. First I put up a fence around my maize farm so that it would keep off livestock from destroying the crops. I also constructed a dairy unit to which I am using to house my dairy cows. I feel that this could not have been possible if I did not have the aid from GiveDirectly over the last four months.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What I like about Give Directly is that they were enrolling all the residence of the selected village and that they were not biased in any way.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfers which I got from Give Directly I spent part of it to purchase new tyres for my car. I had to purchase new once since the other ones were too old and needed some replacement. The remaining potion I spent on buying timber for constructing a dairy unit.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is our ability to completely settle the debts I have been having after obtaining a chaff cutter on a loan. At the moment I have cleared the payment and feeling good that I am using a fully paid-for asset.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
on receiving the transfers, happiness was all over the village. It was early in the morning but we could hear celebrations and waves of laughter from the neighborhood; something which sends us joining them and sharing the greatness of god that morning. We prayed and thank GiveDirectly for the great promise they made and delivered without fail.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Onn receiving the first transfer, I decided to spend part of it on buying iron sheets which I used in the construction of a chicken coop and a dairy shed. These were towards the plan to start poultry farming and improved the dairy farming I was initially doing respectively. I also used the remaining iron sheets on the construction of the goats' house. The remaining amount went to the purchase of three rolls of barbed wire which I used in the partitioning of my fields, complete the payment of a chaff cutter which I had earlier on obtained on a loan an also bought cement in preparation to renovate my old house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I built a small dairy shed some months ago but could not roof it due to insufficient funds. When I receive this money,I am going to buy roofing materials .I also intend to complete some payment that is still due for my chaff cutter and buy a heifer.I expect this heifer to multiply in due time hence giving me some source of income through sale of milk. This will serve as a reminder about the help I received from GiveDirectly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. This is the time when I wake up to do my chores in the household.Am happiest during this time because it is another day that I have woken up healthy even in my old age and am grateful.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My spouse died when all my ten children were still young.I was therefore left to shoulder the burden of paying their school fees on my own as well as meeting all their other needs. It was a huge struggle for me .In addition to these,he left behind a huge debt which I was left to pay. This derailed any form of investment that was intended to help in raising the children. For example,I had some cows and I was forced to sell them so that I could settle this. This is the biggest hardship I have faced.
