Having started investments on the savings which we had accumulated, we never stopped saving. Every month we save at least a total of 2000 KES from the transfers we have been receiving from GiveDirectly. In the next four months, we also have a plan to invest in poultry farming which we are currently assembling construction materials to put up a chicken coop. This is another venture which is an income-generating project and we hope to see it pick after starting so it may help in sorting all the household bills we have been struggling with.

Over several months we have been saving some money with my husband bit by bit every month with the plan to put it in an investment of our choice. Although other needs for money were popping up every other time, we decided not to break our agreement of consistent saving every month. Many projects were in our mind but the one which came out strongly was venturing into farming. Both subsistence and livestock farming wasn't that impressive in our household and that was the only simpler way to ensure enough foodstuff for the household and even a potential source of income. In the last four months, this has been the biggest difference in our daily life. We have managed to add an extra piece of land through leasing, till the one we already had after buying maize seeds and fertilizers which we have just planted. On the other side, we have also bought two sheep which we are now rearing as we work on putting the other land into the plantation in the coming planting season. GiveDirectly has done us a lot and we are really thankful for it.

With the current trends of things, we are really energized and having a lot of hopes on the currently started projects. In the next six months, we expect to have harvested the first produce from our farms and also the poultry project will have picked.

Expanding my poultry farming by buying more chicken has brought my brood to about 20 Chickens. I started having the ability to rear chickens when I received the last four months' transfers. The chicken is now brooding and will hatch more chicks. I will soon be having about 50 chickens which are quite a good number. I use the money from eggs collected to meet my household needs including buying vegetables, cooking fat and salt. Providing for my family has become a lot easier than when I used to rely on my husband who depends on menial jobs to make ends meet.

My new goal is to go back to school and take a Diploma in teaching. I will use the money to pay rent for my room at school and use part of it to contribute to schoool fees payment. This will be majorly done by my husband but with lots of my support.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the proper supply of food for my household. Before I harvested my maize crop, my family was always exposed to the dangers of famine. Receiving the money every month for the last four enabled me to buy maize flour and milk that we were in dire need of. This helped a great deal as we never slept hungry at any point during the most difficult point of this year that came following droughts at the beginning of the year.

My life will have changed in the next six months because I will have started my Diploma course, the desire of my heart. I will also be having an income from the chickens and I will be expecting another income form the maize farm that I am planning to plant before this months end. It only takes about 6 months to mature giving me more form the investments that I make using the transfers form Give Directly.

My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because my family now gets three meals a day unlike before when at times they would take one meal a day when I did not have money. My husband was still in college and I had to support him financially apart from being the breadwinner for my family and the little money I used to get from doing different available casual work was not enough. I am now glad since he has finished his studies and is now giving me a helping hand in providing the basic needs for my family.

My new goal for the next four months is to start a poultry keeping project together. I have always wanted to start this project but I have not been able due to lack of money. This project will act as an alternative source of income for my family. I will use part of the money I will be getting to buy basic needs for my family and save some. I will later use my savings to join college so that I can further my studies by pursuing a diploma course in Early Childhood Development (ECD) since I have a certificate in this field.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer in that I now have financial support unlike before when I only depended on one source of income. I used to do any available job like washing clothes for my neighbors and the income I usually get was little and could not cater for all my family needs. My family would at times take one meal a day when I did not have money to use in buying enough food. I am now glad that this has changed because my family now take three meals a day since I have money to buy food all thanks to GiveDirectly for the support they are giving us.

I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have started my poultry keeping project. This will have generated some income for my family which I will use to join college in order to pursue a diploma corse in Early Childhood Development Education.

The new goals I now have is to buy some chicken since I do not have any and also to join college and further my studies.

My biggest difference in my daily life is happiness since I now days do not lack some basic needs.
