How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have always wanted to own money so that i build a house. And my plans have not changed since my enrollment.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
There is nothing wrong with what GiveDirectly does and its way of operations. I am so happy that the field officers do everything by themselves unlike using chiefs then most of us wouldnt have been enrolled
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought timbers and iron sheets for roofing my house. I also bought bricks so that i build my house next year when the rains are finished. I also got cooking utensils and a bicycle with my transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
It means a spacious house for my family, I and my 3 children we all sleep at the sitting room and my house does not have bedrooms. I will also have a house with iron sheets, a permanent solution to my leaking house which I struggle with during rainy season. I will be able to support my family with food for the year which I am currently struggling with since the casual labours that I depend on are scarce this year and the maximum amount that I make daily is MWK1000 which ends up just buying maize flour and relish for the day.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning and afternoon when I have found the casual labor because I know that my family will have food for that day. I am always excited to find piece of work as this is the source of my survival.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being a divorcee, I am the source of everything and poverty in general has been the biggest hardship I have faced in my life since the house I live in is not spacious for my family of 4. Me and my children we all sleep on the sitting room and my house does not have any bedrooms. I don't have a good place to sleep with my children and waking up daily we just thank God but it has been my dream to have a good place to sleep with mattress. I sometimes fail to support my family since this year casual labours such as farming are scares so it is really hard to find money to buy a bucket of maize and relish for my family.
