Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer, I was at the shopping centre where I had gone running some errands. Then suddenly, I had my phone ringing, upon checking what the message was all about, that was when I noticed that I had received a sum of KES 55,000 from GiveDirectly. I was so happy that I immediately headed home to inform my family of the good news. GiveDirectly has wiped away our tears in a way that we will never forget in a hurry.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My health has improved tremendously because I was able to seek medication attention. In addition to that, I was able to harvest rainwater thanks to the storage tank that I bought. I feel happy and contented to have received the support from GiveDirectly that changed my living standards amazingly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Fetching water from the river has been a hectic thing for me. This is because of my health and my age, therefore I opted to buy a water tank worth KES 32,000. I knew that this would enable me to harvest rainwater freely for our domestic use. I then used the remaining amount on my medication which was a bit expensive. The support from GiveDirectly Has relieved me from several trips to the river daily thus I am grateful.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am aged and sickly most times, hence I cannot go on casual jobs to sustain my family of 2. My household fetches water from the silango's within the village which is nonetheless distant. Furthermore, I consume most of the time fetching water and at the end of it, I am very tired considering I have to fetch round trips to get enough to last the household the entire day. I have been yearning for a tank for the past 3 years, but sadly finances could not allow me. When I receive these transfers, I intend to use KES 30000 to purchase a 2500 litres tank that I will be able to fetch and store rainwater for use in the household. I will be very happy that my energy is reserved and the time reserved for further household chores.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am saved and living proof of God's existence and support. From the transformation Give directly has done in other villages they have worked in, I wished to be part of it sometime. When I saw a Givedirectly staff approach my household, I found joy in my heart.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being aged and most sickly, I do not have the energy to attend casual jobs to support my family of 2. It is so shameful to bother my children for support yet they have their own families to attend to. Although I depend on farming for a living, the crops here are not productive hence I cannot get a surplus. It pains me that I have no source of income thus depend on good wishers.
