Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I plan to build a new poultry house that is up to the required standards for keeping chicken. I will use the money that I will be receiving in the next four months to buy roofing materials s and to pay for construction labor as I already have wood that I need.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I managed to pay school fees for my children who are in secondary school. I was required to pay a huge amount of money for school fees in January. I was going to take a loan or sell livestock in order to pay it but I was happy that GievDireclty saved me from doing it.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to continue paying school fees without having to do anything detrimental like selling livestock on my farm. I am hopeful that the GiveDireclty transfers will not be interrupted by the outbreak of Covid-19 so that I am able to pay for the children on time, hoping that a complete Lockdown will not be enforced in Kenya.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my plan is to buy four chicken a part from the tasks that I normally undertake. I made it a commitment that I will be using part of the transfer to improve my poultry keeping project after every four months. The project has been so resourceful to us as a family in that we are able to meet the cost of the basic household needs without having to worry at any one given time. The project will not only make me to be more independent financially but also an avenue for making other meaningful family investments. I currently have 30 chicken to keep and this fetches me up to KES 300 per day. My target is to have up to 50 chicken that are egg laying and I be sure to improve the living standards of my family even further.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The last four months has seen my farming practices improve and increased productivity from my farm. Money received from GiveDirectly have been used to buy pesticides and herbicides leading to increased farm yields which are ready in time. This has consequently led to higher income on my side which has given me an opportunity to think about other meaningful family investments. I am looking forward to investing in the dairy sector.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect my life to change in that I shall have already ventured into dairy farming. This is a project that has been so dear to me but I have been accumulating money to make sure that I have enough to enable me practice zero grazing. I already have cows that I keep but my plan is to erect a dairy shed as well as improve these local breeds by selling some and using artificial insemination to improve further. I am looking forward to having started in the next six months.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Comparing the last four months and my current life, there are lots of differences which have been realized. I never had any livestock to rear but now I have a cow. All my children were schooling in a public primary school but currently I have been able to trensfer her to a private boarding school. This far, I really thank GiveDirectly for the great support they have accorded us.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
As I continue with the establishment of the poultry farming, we also have an additional goal as a family to start a subsistence farming. We are planning to dwell more on vegetable production since it is the only project which takes the shortest period of time with a great profit margin when the market is favourable. We have already prepared a sizeable nursery bed and bought the seeds which we will soon plant.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Since I received the transfers from GiveDirectly to date, I have been launching and running different projects in our household to completion. I thank God that all have been successful, which gives me the heart of doing more and more.In the last four months, I have been able to construct a chicken coop in preparation to initiate a poultry farming. It is a large chicken house which is projected to be able to provide a sufficient space for 100 layers. This to me is the biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months since I have started foreseeing a prolific source of income.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have picked the poultry farming since the construction of the poultry house is now complete and also the vegetable production will be running.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Four years ago I was struggling too much to make the ends meet in our family. The only source of income which was to serve the household needs and school fees was the casual labor which the entire household was depending on. We would sometimes deny our children a chance to attend school so that they can help us accomplish some task in the neighborhood in order to receive the payment. It was really hard coping with that life now that the only piece of land we own is very small and could not produce enough product to serve all the needs of our household. Currently, things have changed and are way too good since we are able to lease a piece of land, cultivate and at least register a good harvest at the end. We really thank Give Directly for the great help they accorded to us.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Depending on subsistence farming and casual labor alone can't adequately feed my family. This is because the seasons keep changing and at times our produce in the farm performs poorly. Casual job is also very rare during drought season and I have been thinking of a good project to sustain my family during such periods. I have finally thought of putting up a poultry farming unit in our household so that we might start collecting and selling eggs which will always help in serving the household needs. This is an additional goal which I have and I hope to see its profitability when I pick after receiving my second turn of merry-go-round contribution.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Long before receiving the transfers, I was really struggling with school fees payment. My children would be sent home from school every day to collect school fees which were really hard to get. They would spend a good number of days at home before going back since we were supposed to look for a casual job from the neighborhood to earn some money which will enable them to go back. But when we received the money and joined a group of table banking, things have really changed, we are paying all the school fees at ease even without having to do any casual work. This indeed is the biggest difference in my daily life since my children are now enjoying their learning process without any disturbance at all.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Hopes and expectations are now more having in mind that we are still receiving the transfer for quite sometimes. I have many plans which make me foresee great future if at all they will come to pass. In the next six months, I hope to have fully established poultry farming and also increased the leased farm so that I may increase the production. I am planning to dwell more on the short season crops which include vegetables and tomatoes since the rains nowadays are really unpredictable and cannot favor long season plantations.
