What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
We fetch water from the canals of river perkera which is not safe and healthy for domestic use. This nudges me to prioritize a plastic water tank worth KES 35000. Our area is conducive and suitable for livestock keeping, I will invest KES 50000 to purchase a cow and five goats.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am the breadwinner of the family and therefore providing for my family of eight is not a walk in the park. This pushed me so hard to start a business of buying and selling of vegetables as alternative source of income to my family. I am glad that my business is picking up well.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our main source of family income is subsistence farming. Due to inadequate rains and unpredicted weather last season I was not lucky to harvest plenty maize. I am left struggling to pay school fees for my son Kelvin Lembiris who is currently persuing his mechanical engineering course in Kitui university. My daughter Blessings Namayon performed well in her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education last year and joined Kituro secondary school in January this year. This worsened the situation and made me strain a lot to meet my family needs as well as sustain education of my children.
