Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received this transfers I felt so happy and thankful for I knew that my dream will come true. Ever since, I had been planning to start poultry farming but my worry was how to get resources. When the confirmation message came, I took a deep breath and thank God as I knew that surely I would spend it as I have always plan.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life at the moment is that I have a good poultry house which I am now using to house some few chicken which I had. To me this is a great step which I had been looking forward to. Apart from that, I bought a heifer which I will use to pay dowry once I get married in the near future. Initially, I was worried how I would get married and having nothing within my disposal to appreciate my in-laws.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The transfers which I received from GiveDirectly, I first set a side tithe KES 5500 which I gave out in church. After thanking God, I now started planning for the remaining portion. It was my plan to start poultry farming with the transfers so that I would have a reliable source of income. I then spent KES 23000 to construct a poultry house. Another KES 7000 I spend to purchase a chain link wire which I will use to erect a perimeter fence around my poultry house. This will enable me to confine the birds around the house and prevent them from straying to my neighbours farm. As a young man I saw that it will also be good to have a cow and since I had invested I bought a heifer at KES 15000. The remaining KES 4000 I spent on clothing and on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me buy a cow as well as chicken for rearing. These to me will guarantee a source of income to substitute what I get from my farm.I intend to get married soon and so I need to ensure that the family I expect to raise will be provided for.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon.I am an assistant pastor in our local church and this is the time that I go to church after I have completed my farmwork for the day.At the church,I take time to pray and thank God for restoring my health. This moment of devotion makes me extremely happy every single day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have had health challenges for a very long time, until recently. This is part of the reason why I was not able to proceed with my studies after primary school. The medical costs in various hospitals depleted all what I had-both money from the business I used to run and livestock. This has left me to start from scratch. However,I am grateful that am now in full and good health.
