How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I needed money to complete my house and expand my footwear business. Therefore, when I received my transfer, I purchased 2 bundles of zinc and I saved the balance money to begin my footwear business. This business will serve as an additional source of income for me to take good care of my family. GiveDirectly has become a huge blessing to me. I am grateful for this opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
It surprises me most often to see an Organization like GiveDirectly that gives out huge amount of money and expects no favor in return. Everything that GD has done thus far has been awesome. With these transfers, my life has changed completely. I remained grateful to GiveDirectly for all they do.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Most of my recent transfer just received from GiveDirectly was used to buy 2 bundles of zinc ($23,000LD) to roof my house. Moreover, portion of my transfer was saved. My savings plus my next transfer will be used to purchase enough footwear (shoes, sanders, slippers etc...) for commercial purpose. I feel so relieved having benefited from this program initiated by GiveDirectly.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was under my kitchen resting when I received message in my phone that I have received forty thousand three hundred seventy five dollars from GiveDirectly. At the time my neighbors first transfer came my payment was not yet ready I was little bit worried but when I received the message I was really happy. I want to tell GiveDirectly thanks for the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started recieving payments from GiveDirectly is that, I am no longer going to travel two hours and half distance to cut thatches. Moreover, I am now going to be living in a house that will have the floor cast with cement and the walls plastered with concrete. GiveDirectly is truly the organization for the poorest people. Since I was born this is the first time ever to receive that amount of money free. May God richly blessed GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
For the past four to five decades I have lived in this house. The roof is now leaking most especially during the rainy season. I travel about two hours to cut thatches for the roof of my house when the rainy season is nearing. With this recent transfer, I am going to buy zinc for the new house I building. I am so grateful for GiveDirectly coming to this community to help me this morning. I am going to make great used of this opportunity.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I feels bad seeing my family lying down in a house that the roof is not good. When the fall we are unable to sleep, I feel so frustrated when I see my family going through such a condition. The feeling become worse most especially when I can't do anything about the situation. Inview of this, I have plan to used this money to improved my living condition. Built a better and decent living place and improve my wife small business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I'm going through a lots of difficulties but being awake every morning is a source of happiness for me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Due to the lack of money I'm unable to take care of my responsibility. I have five children that are living in Monrovia and are taken care of by one of my bigger sister. To provide food and clothing for my wife and children is a real problem for me now.
