How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have always dreamt of a better house for my family. I feel they deserved a better living but I could not afford it. So, after the house I am building, I am sure that we will be comfortable and living way better than before. This is life changing for me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is perfect. Your operations are recipient centered and that is good. No complaints.

I have a very small uncomfortable house so all the money is going to be spent on building a new and better house for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy when i received my transfer. I just knew that i will make both ends meet.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
So much has changed. Now am able to sleep comfortably on mattress, i also eat almost 2 meals a day as compared to the past where we could go on an empty stomach. I will also build a nice house with the materials i have bought.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I had a chance to buy Mattress, blankets, iron sheet, 2 bags of maize so that we can produce flour during this hunger season. I also bought maize seed which i planted at my field. I have saved a certain amount of money to buy fertilizer and some other basic needs as time goes.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will now be able to have a better house with iron sheets. I have been living in a dilapidated house for many years and now this is a relief to me and my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is at noon when my I come back from piece works with some food. Food puts a smile on my face.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The greatest hardship which I have faced in my life is lack of money to construct a better house as well as to purchase farm inputs in order to have a bumper yield.
