In my opinion GiveDirectly does well to give recipients the freedom of choice on how to spend their cash transfers. Moreso the GiveDirectly staff treat the recipients with respect and dignity while in the field.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before GiveDirectly launched in my community, life was very miserable. I did not have enough financial sources to enable me afford basic needs and other necessities. However when I received the cash transfer,my life changed alot. I am happy because I bought a plot of land and also established my a bakery business. I can now afford to buy nice clothes and eat a decent meal with the proceeds from my bakery business.
