How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before I use to depend on casual jobs for a living. Some would hire me to operate motorbike taxi for a day and the next day I would have none. At times I would not raise to meet my daily needs. This situation challenged me to have my own motorbike as I knew how to ride and have many customers who would call me to ferry them to various destinations. Now having my own motorbike, I make reasonable money which has enabled me to feed my family well and also spend some on farming.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I like what Give Directly did by helping all the households in our village. Presently, people are almost on the same level as those who had no houses have built and those who didn't have livestock have acquired.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfers which I received from Give Directly I put the whole amount together with the savings which I made from the first transfers and spent buy a motorbike. I made the sacrifice of buying my own so that I would have self-employment and have a reliable source of income. Before I would be hired to operate the motorbike taxi business and times I would go home empty-handed. When I got my transfers I decided to buy my own motorbike so that whatever I would make in a day would enable me to feed my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I feel very excited now that I will be receiving this money.Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a cow that I will be milking then sell the milk so as to get income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This because I feel relaxed having time with my family after the tough day's activities.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of enough food. For very many years we have not had enough food due to the little rains and crop diseases. The year I remember most is the year 2007 when life was hard until my dad went to look for employment elswhere leaving us with nothing. He came home once in a while to bring the little he had managed to get; which was not enough.
