What did you spend your third transfer on?
When I received my third transfer, I invested part of it in rice farming and expanded my general shop with the rest of the money. I am now running both farming and retailing concurrently and this has been sustaining our lives as household members.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because Initially, I lived in leaky house; the house was too tiny to accommodate us well and again, it never had a door so my life was insecure but when I received the transfer, I built a better house-one which is healthier to our lives. Secondly, I received this money the moment when doctors in public hospitals had gone on strike and therefore I had no option but to seek for the most expensive treatment in private hospitals for my child who suffers from sickle cell and I am glad the money facilitated his treatment and he feels better now-I am proud of this as a mother.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What Give Directly does well is that it never discriminates the poorest and this explains why I got the transfer, but what it does not do well is that once it is done with the community members, it never schedule for any visit to see how well they would be doing.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on treatment for our child who is a sickler and was admitted in Hospital for blood transfusion (10,000 KES) .
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my money was quite a defining moment for us because the money saved us from embarrassment; it happens that our child who suffers from sickle cell anaemia had a severe attack that same day and needed to be Hospitalized for treatment. We thank God the GD transfer facilitated us to pay for her treatment for that time.
