How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed in that I have greatly reduce my daily expenditures since I can save the money I would otherwise use in buying milk to cater for my households needs like buying daily meals with ease. This is because the dairy cow I bought with the first transfer has already reproduce hence on a daily basis I am able to get 3 litters of milk from it . On the other hand , restocking my small retail shop business which is our my livelihood has also increased my daily income and I have been able to save the part of the profits which I intend to use it as school fees next year when the schools reopen to pay school fees for my children .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well through giving money to the less unfortunate in my community and also advising the beneficiaries on ways they can use their transfers to benefit them since majority of the beneficiaries have never received such amount of money in their entire life . I do not have any critic to redirect on GiveDirectly's operations .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer to buy a dairy cow and add onto the one I bought with the first transfer . I decided on this so that I would be able to reduce my daily expenditures by not buying milk. The remaining amount I have been able to restock my small retail shop because its our household's main source of income .

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow. Even though I am still buying milk, I am certain that I will not be doing so in the next three months. When it reproduces, my children will have enough milk for their consumption after selling some. I will also be able to save the money I would have otherwise used in buying milk.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was 11 mins to 4 a.m when I received a message notification on my phone. I was curious to know who the sender was since I had never received a message at that hour before. After reading its content, my heart was filled with joy as I knew that I would be able to own a cow like other people in our community.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KES 35000 from my first transfers to buy a dairy cow. This will help me reduce my daily expenditure when it reproduces since I will no longer be buying milk. I used KES 15000 from the remaining amount to restock my shop. This will boost my daily profits as I now have a variety of items fro my customers to choose on. Also, my customers will be getting everything they need from my shop since I now have most of the things I did not have before. I used the remaining amount to buy some utensils. This will now enable me to host my visitors without having to borrow these items from my neighbors like I was doing previously.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband and I have an existing shop business. Our ambition is to make it a one-stop shop that meets the demands of my community and surrounding villages. Receiving this money means a realization of this dream to become a successful business owner and I am going to achieve this using GiveDirectly transfer to revamp it to capacity.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My husband is a shop owner and operates it from morning till evening. When he comes home, he relieves me of other household chores giving me time to rest after a long day. This is the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In this community, livestock play a huge role in the lives of most families. They often succumb to diseases a common of which is anthrax which spread quickly from one animal to another due to a shared grazing ground. These livestock are a form of savings and store of wealth which we rely to make income for our families. When they die of such diseases, it is a worry for us because it can result in starvation and malnutrition, and to an extend our children dropping out of school because of curtailed sources of income.
