How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
When my son was a bout to sit for the final examinations that could lead him to secondary school, I was worried on how and where I would get money to pay for fees. It appeared to me to be a tough task. Right now, I am sure that he will make it. I promise to give his education the first priority because out of it, he will have a tool for employment opportunity. My life now is good without worries, I could now have time to reorganized myself on how to face the family life a head. Life without anxiety.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has narrowed the gap between the most poor and the rich. Out of it, the poor community have been empowered to posses the items which they believed to be of special economic class. My son will complete his education without hindrances, and that will be my joy, I will no longer pester relatives and friends for financial support. With his education, he will be fully equipped for the job market for his future life. The organization needs to adjust on eligibility criteria in order to capture the good numbers of the most needy, whom at the time of registration process were locked out. Some don't have even the house of their own yet they were mistaken to be imposters.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on leasing the already planted sugarcane farm, Out of this, I hope that it will fetch me good money within a period of less than a year. I also paid school fees out of this amount of money, my son joined Secondary school this year and I had to pay school fees. For economic sustainability, I opted to buy the already grown sugarcane farm at a specific cost. This will enable me to harvest at the end of the year and make good money out of it, to pay for school fees next year.
