How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Receiving money from GiveDirectly has brought a big difference in my finances in a positive way. In the past, I was not in the position of owning any substantial thing let alone the motorcycle that I had always earned for a very long time. This situation made me operate somebody else's motorcycle which was not profitable in terms of income. There was also a lot of restrictions and demands. Thanks to GiveDirectly's transfer because today I own a motorcycle. I am grateful since I am able to plan my day and get enough money to take care of my family's needs with ease. This is simply because I do not share the days' profits with anyone but have it all for myself.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well in uplifting our lives which were very low meaning the poverty levels were high before enrollment. It conducted door to door visits, that enhance transparency in selecting the eligible beneficiaries and it was so awesome in my own perspective.I do not see anything that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have always had several thoughts of improve and expand my farming practices in an economical way which meant reducing the expenses of leasing land . When I received my second transfer, I took KES 25,000 KES to partly purchase my neighbor's piece of land to help me expand my farming. I feel encouraged to see a larger farm with good crops in a few months to come . I also bought food for my family's consumption and five goats as well.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life ever since Give Directly came into my life is that I managed to buy a second-hand motorcycle which has now become my source of income. Before GiveDirectly came to our village, I used to depend on casual jobs from my friends. I would at times borrow their motorcycle since I did not have one. Getting such an opportunity wasn't easy, and many times, I could stay for a week without a cent. This made it difficult for me to provide for my family. This has recently changed because I now have a stable source of income.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was preparing to start my day's activities early that morning when a neighbour came and asked me to read a message on her phone. We are always close and she trusted me with her everything. Since she never went to school she couldn't comprehend what the message was all about. Before I could even start reading her message, I also received a notification on my phone. To my surprise, the messages were the same. They all came from Give Directly indicating that they had sent us our first transfer. I shared the message with her and she couldn't believe it at first. We were all happy as we began our day
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KES 50000 of my first transfer to buy a motorcycle. I am currently using it to provide taxi services within our town centre. Through this, I am now able to earn good money and provide basic needs to my family without much struggle. I feel GiveDirectly has changed my life because I used to be jobless and entirely depended on casual jobs which were always unpredictable. I am glad because my living standard has improved since I now have a stable source of income. I spent the remaining KES 5000 to buy enough food for my family and other basic needs.
