How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before GiveDirecly visited us, I used to live in my mother's house. This was quite difficult since having my brother's against the idea of me living there used to cause some household fights with them. I did not have any peace and freedom at all. When I received these transfers, I bought myself a small piece of land and put up a small house. I am glad that even though I may not have built such a decent house, I have the peace I always desired and that I am free to do any activity in my piece. We are living a better life than we were before. Thanks to GiveDirectly!
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What I loved about how the whole program is that we received the transfer in lumpsum and it helped us do different activities. Everything was done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a small piece of land using the second transfer received and used the rest to put a small piece of land. I used the rest of it on food for my family.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Death has been so cruel in both my nuclear and extended family. I lost my first born daughter some years back and then followed by my daughter-in-law both of whom left their children under my care. Being jobless, I have struggled alot in trying to provide for them and this for me has been my biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I have managed to find food for my grandchildren to take for supper. The happiness portrayed on their face makes me feel alive.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a happy person now that GD has enabled me realize my plan of being a business lady. Now it's a matter of time to actualize it. Thank you.
