How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
From what I see in my family, our lives have absolutely transformed. You know in the previous years from the month of December all through January and February, we would struggle to find food. But now only good is happening in our lives, we eat adequately, porridge in the morning, nsima in the afternoon with descent goat meat. And this is nsima from fine, white maize meal and not the usual course and dark whole grain maize mealie.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion all processes by Give Directly are transparent. So I personally do not have an issue with the program. However, those that did not get registered feel sidelined as it is not clear as to why certain parts of the area where registered and other parts were not registered. These are the people that have been speaking ill of current recipients, they say things like ''look at you Malawians getting help while us Mozambicans have been left out''.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I did not buy enough iron sheets the find round hence I bought additional iron sheets to ensure I had enough for the size of house that I am envisioning. I also bought construction material including brick reinforcement wire, wood, 6 bags of cement, and 2 door frames. Now everything with regards to the house is set and ready.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so excited. I and together with my children we danced till it was dawn
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I was so excited. I wanted to build a house which is strong and has security features to protect my albino daughter as you know there are on high risk of being killed.

I have bought 11iron sheets, 4 bags of maize, clothes for the family, matress, blanket and kitchen utensils.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I feel like this money is here to help us to buy basic things such as food,renovating the house and etc.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I'm always happy in the afternoon hours because that's when I spent time with my family because in the morning hours I'm always moving around searching for food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
So far i don't have a place to sleep,and food to eat with my children as i have said that I'm a single mother.
