How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
After a lot of planning and saving, I finally managed to start the poultry project I have always desired to have. This is a big step for me because I finally have something good to show that I have been receiving money from Give Directly. This project was inspired by the readily available market from the nearby hotels which make orders in bulk and at a good price. I want to grow the business within the rest of the period that I will be receiving transfers so that I can benefit from it later on.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I recently started a poultry project I have been saving for over the past few months. The chickens are currently at my friend's place where she also keeps her own because I have not constructed a chicken pen yet. My plan for the next few months is to save enough money to construct a chicken pen so that I can have the poultry within our compound where I can monitor them myself.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I do not have any stable source of income yet and only earns a little from helping my mother at her business. The transfers have been of great help to me as a lady because I don't have to bother my parents about money for personal needs because what I receive evry month takes care of all that.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have gotten the first feel of what the poultry business is like because by then, I will have sold the first batch. By this time I will also have gotten much more knowledge and experience on how to run the entire project for better results and good profits. I believe by then the business will have grown to at least twice of what it is right now.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was before GiveDirectly came into our village in that I can now cater for my personal needs on my own without depending on anyone. It is usually very awkward and embarrassing to ask for some personal items from someone even if it is your parents. Apart from this, I can also communicate well because I was given a good phone by the organization and I am never off-air unlike before were communicating to my friend and relatives was difficult because I did not have a handset.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to build a chicken coop. I have started the project with the recent transfer and I am still in the process of establishing it. Currently, I keep them in a neighbor's hen house who has a good structure. The disadvantages of this partnership is that some of my birds have been infected with disease due to the transmission a result of mingling with my neighbor's infected hens. I believe that once I have my own chicken coop I can be able to avoid this.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I was able to pay for my computer course and managed to finish all the packages successfully. My next goal is to join college and do a computer-related course. This is a great achievement because I didn't have hopes of furthering my education after completing my secondary education. My parents couldn't afford to do all these because they don't have a stable income. I also have other siblings who need their attention too. I am glad that GiveDirectly chipped in and now there is hope of continuing with my studies.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I will have built a chicken coop. I know that once my poultry farming project picks and starts generating good profits, I will now be able to meet most of my long term goals. I am planning to go back to college and the profits from this project will enable me to buy the necessary equipment and comfortably pay the college fees.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Apart from sleeping on the cold without blankets and always visiting the hospital which is no longer the case, we are also planning to construct a better house where we can sleep in without being rained on. Currently, we have the blankets but there is no proper house, we are sleeping in a grass thatched leaking house. The difference comes in in that we have already purchased iron sheets ready to start construction.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my new goal is to join college and take a secretarial course so that I become self-dependent and also help my parents bare the burden of taking care of my other siblings. It is too much for them given that their income is too little to take of us comfortably. I am also asking my self a question of what of next after GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
We are six siblings, previously, we could share a blanket the six of us. This could result in fights with everyone scrambling for a portion at night. Our sibling rivalry was as a result of scrambling for a blanket. The cold was too much and most of the times we were in and out of the hospital because only one person could win the war and have the blanket for him or herself for a night. This is not the case currently after I managed to purchase new blankets using the money I received from GiveDirectly. The rains have started, the cold weather is approaching and the question of who is next to visit a doctor is no longer our fear. We no longer fight too as everyone has a blanket of their own. This is the biggest difference in my daily life and that of my siblings. I am glad.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My main aim was to start poultry keeping, so in the next six months, I shall have completed the major projects I am doing now and started on the poultry keeping project. This is an income generating activity and I know from it, I shall get some income to help me improve my life that is not so good at the moment. I am not leaving the life I desire honestly.
