How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Nowadays, we currently have continuous source of income from the motor bike business that was started out of this transfers. In essence the money gave us a boda boda and also employed one of my family members where we get daily income from. Had it not for the money, for sure, we wouldn't have recorded the milestones as noted above. I also record that our children have peaceful study time since we no longer fail to pay their school fees in time. I am very hopeful that they will pass im their exams, and they will be important people in this nation.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
From the negative point of view, GD does not do anything wrong. Actually all the good things are attributed to this organization. Giving us unconditional cash for our own use is something that we are all proud of.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfers came at a time I neede it the most. I spent the transfers in buying a cow which is currently offering us milk, both for domestic use and for sale as commercial commodity. The money that I get from the sale of milk is used in settling other household expenses that maybe needed from time to time. I also spent some other amount in paying school fees for children who are in secondary school. I a very happy parent seeing my children in school not being sent back like it used to be. Its really worth thanking the organization for this awesome support.

When we received the transfer we were very happy and everyone in the village was very happy.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means my child who is yet to do his KCSE exam this year will comfortably finish his secondary education because I will use some of the money to clear his school fee arrears.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at noon when I manage to provide lunch for my family because it is something which rarely happens due to low farming production and lack of money to buy food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I had been struggling paying school fee for my children due to lack of money, it hurts me seeing them at out of school while their age mates are going on with their education. This makes me feel like I failed as a parent. That's my biggest hardship .
