How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a goats. I had always wished to start goat rearing but I didn't had an some money. When I received the second transfer I found it wise to invest on this amazing project. A goat give birth twice year. I found it Worth because I will sell them to pay school fees for my children. I depend on casual jobs in the village and sometimes to get this jobs is so hard. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic household items. I didn't had an extra income to save. I am so happy now because GiveDirectly has change my living standard. It has given me hope and chance to make things better. Causal jobs Achoo fees
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the money I received from GiveDirectly on purchasing a Sofa set seats. I has always wished to own but I didn't had an extra money. I also purchased a goat. This is the best investment because it multiply faster. The rest of the money I bought food, clothes and paid school fees for my children in primary school.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 10 am when I received a message alert on my phone. I decided to read the message to know who the sender was. To my amazement, I realized that GiveDirectly had finally sent us the promised money. I felt so happy knowing that I would finally achieve my long-time plans.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my family now lives in a more presentable house. This would not have been possible had it not have been for GD. With my paltry income from subsistence farming and casual jobs, meeting all the family needs has been challenging for me. Both daily household and children's education needs are my priority thus, I spend much of income on leaving me with none to improve our home. I am now glad since I can concentrate on other income-generating activities whenever I get money because I am done with my home improvement. I am happy that we currently stay in a better spacious and decent iron-roofed house courtesy of GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
It had always been my prayer to build a spacious house that can accommodate all my family comfortably. My spouse and I had not been able to achieve or even save some money to use in achieving it due to the lack of an adequate source of income. I lived in one house that acted as our kitchen as well as a living room. I spent the remaining amount on my household daily basic needs and household items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My family and I have lived in abject poverty since I started this household. The amount of pain I have undergone due to poverty is unmeasurable. Two years ago, my wife left me together with these children because she could not take it anymore. They have grown up in poverty and lack of motherly love. I am now feeling relieved that GiveDirectly have enrolled me into their program. I shall be able to acquire a cow to help us with our nutritional needs and also build a house big enough to accommodate all of us. I also hope that my wife will see a change in this home and come to stay with us once again.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day in the evening since this is the time I have specifically dedicated to being with my children. I don't want these kids to miss parental love since am a single parent and this moment when am with them means a lot to me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
When my wife left me, I faced the biggest hardship of my life. I had children to take care of and at the same time fend for them through casual labor. They were so young at the time and the responsibilities were so much overwhelming to me.
