Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The most evident change is that I dress decetly as compared to the past when I would wear tattered clothes. I am now presentable and smart. More so, I had only calves which could not be used to plough the farm land. However, I bought an ox which has boosted my labour force. I do not have to borrow or hire oxen anymore because I have my own.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early morning when I received the mobile money message. I was excited because I had received money that was indeed promised by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought a bull worth UGX1200000 and UGX200000 was spent on clothes and UGX100000 on food stock and UGX30000 on a radio. The balance was spent on daily purchase of food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one that I have is grass thatched and it leaks so much from one side since wind blew off part of the roof.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am seated with other people from the centre. The new ideas that come up when people come together and the fun made makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is living alone as a single parent. I married a lady whom I think was not ready to settle in marriage so she left me. Since then, I have not been able to marry again because I don't have money to facilitate marriage again. I am also worried that may be I will again chance to meet the same kind of person (lady) that I met before though there is need to have a woman in the house.
