Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My goal for the next four months is to strengthen farming ventures. I will continue investing in onion farming in order to make money that I can use to pay school fees for the kids.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is in the acquisition of farm inputs that I have used to improve my farm. I am waiting for the next two months to harvest and I have a crop on one of the farms that I can harvest now. I used the money to buy spring onions seedlings and planted them. In January, my child will be joining a secondary school where I will be required to pay school fees. The money will help me in paying school fees when I sell the farm produce. I feel that I will be comfortable to meet his educational needs because of GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will be having vibrant farming activities. I will be using more and more of the transfers to buy farm inputs and generate more income. In the of six months, I will have comfortably started off my son who is joining a secondary school in January. I hope to be living a better life where I can easily meet my children's daily needs.

My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I have improved on my horticultural farming. I do farm in a bigger land nowadays and this has earned me income to support my family.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goals for the next four months is to rent a piece of land and do much of the horticulture farming at home. This project will earn me an income by selling the produce at the market.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have been able to pay school fees on time and my son is no longer sent home to collect school. I usually do casual jobs in the village and the payment was so small and it was not able to gather for the basic needs and school fees at the same time. Currently, I do horticulture farming and I no longer do much of the casual job because I pay school on time. My son is no longer sent home to collect fees his performance has really improved this time around because he spends most of his time in school studying.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have saved enough from my farm produce to clear all the school fees for my son on time. This will make him happy and work hard in school.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I used some of the transfers to buy farm inputs. I recently planted onions on my farm that will be mature in the next 3 months. I expect to harvest onions worth KES 10000. I will use the money to pay school fees for my children. Having enough food for my family has also become a reality throughout the month. We use my wife's transfer to buy foodstuff as mine goes towards school fees or farming.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My goals are to clear school fees for my child and to start saving money so that I use it to build a house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is I have also been using a part of the transfers to pay school fees quite easily. It is now smooth learning sessions because his teachers know that I will be getting money and keep paying in bits. The fact that my child is not sending home even when I have not completed payment is that biggest difference.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will have built a house for my children and my son will have completed school. I also expect to have harvested my onions and planted beans, this will fetch me higher profits that will enable me to clear his school fees this year.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Initially, payment of school fees for my kids was difficult due to the fact that I was unemployed and didn't have any capital to start a business. My kids had to delay going to school and this made me feel as if I had failed as a parent. This is the biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up in the morning, thanking God for enabling me see another new day and plan everything required for the day with my family.

I am planning to spend my transfer on paying school fees for my kids and increasing acreage under cultivation.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
In the year 2007, I managed to harvest alot of potatoes due to favourable climatic conditions. I later used the returns I received from the sale of the potatoes to shift to a new village and purchase a piece of land. This for me is the achievement I am proudest of.
