Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
the moment i received my transfer i was very excited because i knew my dream of improving my house will be done.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I used to stay in a grass thatched house, the house was heavily leaking during rainy season and it was my dream to improve the roof of my house. Once i received my transfer i bought iron sheets which which will be used as a new roof instead of grass. thank you Give Directly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
when i received my transfer the first thing i bought was iron sheet, i used to stay in a grass thatched house and it was my dream to improve my house because it was heavily leaking during rainy season. secondly i bought food because we did not have food at home. the remaining amount was used to buy a bicycle, mattress and other basic needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We are now looking forward to have a warm and comfortable home. We always struggle every rainy season due to heavy leaking of the house which makes us to always be switching places to sleep even in the middle of the night. Hence we shall buy iron sheets, cement for the floor and plastering so that the house withstands rains and winds. The other money will go towards food, house utensils and also buy some livestock especially goats for rearing and selling in future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy in the morning whenever I know there is food for my mother in the afternoon. This gives me time to look for piece works with better pay as food for the day is already available at home.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We always struggle to have enough food. I always do the farm work on behalf of my grandmother but since the harvest doesn't last all year, we are forced to be doing piece works in other half of the year until we harvest again. This puts me under a lot of stress as we sometimes have to beg from neighbours.
