Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had left my phone to charge through the night up to morning was off. When I took my phone later in the day, I saw that the money had come in at around 8.30 in the morning. I had just woken up and taken a shower. When I saw the money felt born again as a heavy boulder lifted from my chest. Give directly has become a family you can rely on, thank you so much for considering me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Things that I would have done 6-7 years down the line I will be able to do. I have been able to buy a goat which would multiply and I can get a cow. I can start a business. I can go to college through the business I started by Give directly. They are so many doors to be opened thanks to Give Directly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was surprised when I got this money as I had not considered that the cash transfer would come in a different name other than Give directly. After some reading from the brochure I was given and saw that it would come under the name Sergovia. I was able to deposit KES. 2000 in my savings account. I want to start a save for a business that will sell veterinary medicine. I also bought a small kid worth Kes.1000. This would not be possible without Give directly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always wanted to start a business so I can depend on myself. Being dependent on people is not easy and I think it is time for me to find ways to take care of myself. For this reason, I want to start an agro vet business, it will cost me around 1,000,000 KES for the business to start operating. For me to raise this money I plan to identify microfinance where I can save every month so I can acquire a loan in the future for the business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We had a family gathering in the last few months, seeing them in good health brought me joy and happiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I used to farm but the drought worsened things and now getting food has been a nightmare. Sleeping on an empty stomach has been the order of the day for me, it is depressing and frustrating not able to get food.
