My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a water tank for storing water . I used to walk for a long distance to get clean water for drinking and also for domestic use. This was so tiresome and take much of my time which I could have used to do other chores at home. Currently I have bought a water tank and I no longer walk walk for that long. My children have time to do their homework on time because I no longer sent them to fetch water from the river. During the rainy season my water tank is full and this means I will have enough water for domestic use and for my cows. I have devoted much of my time on my farm. I do plant maize and other horticulture farming. I have enough food for the family and sell the surplus at the market to earn an income to meet other basic household needs.

GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to improve their standards of living. Most of the people have build better houses and bought dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.

I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to build a kitchen house, I also bought a dairy cow, water tank and the rest of the money I used it to buy food for the family.

At around eight in the morning while taking tea that's when my I heard my phone ring. Immediately, I gave to my daughter who in turn confirmed I had received the GD money. I was overwhelmed with joy until I lost appetite for tea.

The biggest difference in my daily life is purchase of a water tank which has the capacity to store up to five thousand liters. This is because I had desired to buy one for the past two years but I couldn't afford.Right now, I am relieved from transporting on the back from far off water sources and it will suffice domestic use. I used to rely on dairy farming to feed my family. I am also happier than before because I have adequate food for my family unlike before when we used to eat two meals a day and mostly would resort to sweet potatoes during lunch hour.

I spent KES 30,000 of my transfer on a 5000 litres water tank because there's prolonged dry spell and when there's water scarcity the water distance is one hour away. This is because I used to carry water using my back but right now there are rains. I spent KES 650 on a bag of cement for my water tank. KES 2000 was on tractor for hire and maize seeds and they are now doing well . I also spent KES 4000 on maize meal because in the last maize season the maize crop was affected by flooding. The rest that I have planned to buy clothes and furniture because I still have the old arm chairs which can easily break.
