The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that the schools closed when I had completed all the arrears. I recall that previously when we had no money from GiveDirectly, my children would be sent back home to collect the fees. It was unfortunate that the same children had to stay at home as I attend casual work which paid meager amounts which were not enough for school fees payment plus family’s upkeep. Since the transfers began trickling in, the case has always been changed and I am happy noting my children had a good time for their examinations.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In six months’ time, I expect to be in a running business fully stocked with shoes. My hopes are that once the support that we get from GiveDirectly ends, I would continue earning some income from the business that I will have started.
