How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I started living a happy life after receiving my transfer. My level of poverty has been reduced because of the money I received. I should also say that I have enough maize than I had in the past. The transfer has also enabled me to rent a piece of land and all factors equal, my harvest will be greater. I also have a TV in my house and I am happy that I watch it with my family. I am very grateful for the development.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is doing very well by giving cash to people. When I have cash, I can do whatever I want to do with it unlike some NGOs who distribute items.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I had hunger rolling over my house. The first thing I did when I received my transfer was to buy maize for food processing. I bought 15 bags of maize and I am confident that I will reach the next harvesting season with it. I also thought of investing in agriculture such that I rented a peace of land for farming, I also bought 4 bags of fertilizer.
I bought 2 solar panels and a small plasma for home use. I also used the money to do plastering for my house.
