How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am a farmer. A single mother. My husband left me with our children and went to the gold mine to hustle for our family. Unfortunately, he fell in love with another woman. Over 5 years now he has not come back home. He doesn't assist me with our children. Sometimes it's difficult to get their tuition. I sell fufu to take care of my family. Profits I generate from that is used for my children our upkeep. I have always wanted to build a new house for my family. Our house has spoiled. It leaks during the rainy season. I am so grateful. My family will live a better life after receiving all of the transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly's cash program is an amazing program. This program is a great opportunity to improve our lives. We are so grateful being giving this opportunity. That they don't accept gifts of good will from us, is what we as villagers think it does not do well. Being a single mother struggling with three children alone is not an easy thing. Nonetheless, I had to try to put food on our table every day. I appreciate GiveDirectly for this opportunity. Our lives will now get better.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am planning on using some of my money to buy gasoline. Contractors will use the gasoline to saw sticks for my house. I also plan to buy a bag of rice and some other food items.
