How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash transfers empowered me to hire a piece of farm land. I have been able to cultivate cassava and maize on this large piece of land. This will ensure enough food supply for my new family. More so, the cash transfers enabled me to start up a livestock sale business which is sustaining the family. I can only thank GiveDirectly for being humanitarian enough to support the poor.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In GiveDirectly has done well to send us cash transfers that empowered our families. There is no fault that GiveDirectly has committed so far.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of the second cash transfer to hire a piece of land and another portion of the transfer was spent on clearing debts. The balance was spent on family needs like food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I acquired most household items such as bedding which I could not afford at once. I am happy that I have also hired a piece of land that I intend to cultivate on so as to increase my food production. Before, the cash transfers, I was miserable and distressed.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The money was sent at night. When I read the mobile money message, I was excited to the extent of failing to sleep. I felt happy because GiveDirectly fulfilled her promise to me.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase bedding worth UGX 230000. I paid dowry worth UGX 700000 and UGX 200000 was spent on hiring a piece of land. The balance of the cash transfer I am planning to spend it on purchasing food and other necessities.
