How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Jacqueline, before GD came, I planned to build a house but could not be realized due to lock of funding. My only source of income is farming, but this could not start a house. I was enrolled as a recipient on the GD program and received my first and second transfer. With the first and second transfers, I can now start to build a house of my own and will be called a house owner.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Firstly, I want to take this time to say a very big thanks to Give Directly for services rendered us during the entire enrollment process. You did a great and excellent job.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy four (4) bundles of zinc and paid people to cut the Sticks for the building. I was also able to buy food for the children. Thanks to the entire Give Directly family for the transfer that will enable me to own a house.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal I have since I started receiving the cash transfer is to build a new house with zinc roof, and move from the old tash roofed house. Thanks to Give Directly we are about to move in a descent home where we won't be thinking about it breaking on us while we are asleep or when it's raining.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In mine own opinion, Give Directly give out unconditional cash to the needed to change their lives status. What they don't do well is they don't accept gifts from community dwellers.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two bundles of zinc and two packs of nails with this second cash transfer.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited when I received my first transfer. I am a farmer and can't afford to purchase a bundle of zinc. I am also living in a thatch house. Therefore, upon receiving my first transfer, I purchased two bundles of zinc to start building my house. When this house is completed, my family and I will live in a decent house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that the transfer has empowered me financially. I was able to purchase two bundles of zinc to start my building process.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my most recent money on zinc. I also saved portion of it.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Being married couple and still living under the roof of my father in-law is quite embarrassing so benefiting from Give Directly will be a great help to my family because the money will be used to build ourselves a concrete house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Seeing my children alive especially my youngest child bring happiness to me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Sleeping with my in-law in the same house is a major problem. I have tried by all means to get money to build a house but things aren't working as planned. Most often when rain falls, we spent sleepless night packing things due to the leakage from the roof. The next challenge am facing is getting money to send my husband for treatment because he's suffering from severe cold.
