How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different than it was before because I am always less stressed financially. The transfers from GiveDirectly eased my financial burden as I was able to use them to settle the hospital bills which had accumulated when my husband was admitted with a chronic health condition. The transfers also helped us to buy for him the prescribed medicines and currently he is healthy and in a stable condition.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal in the next four months is to build another pit latrine and a bathroom for my children. They have grown up and I would not like to share my bathroom with them anymore. The new pit lat latrine and the new bathroom will also serve my visitors. For the past years, we have just been using one pit latrine which is situated behind my house and is always far away from my children. They always feel uncomfortable to use it at night because it is about 100 meters away from where their houses are situated.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
In the last four months, the biggest difference in my life is having bought and fixed a new gate in my compound. In the past, I had just fenced the compound with the barbed wire but there was no gate hence some people could freely walk in even when we were away. Fixing a new gate has enhanced our security because no one can access our home without our knowledge. Our visitors always inform us in advance when they plan to visit us. I am very grateful for the support from GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have a good yield from my farm which I shall use to support my family. Having adequate food in the house will enable us as a family to focus on other areas of development such as paying school fees for the school going children. I believe that education is the key to success and when they shall have completed their studies, they will not only be able to seek formal employment. They will also be able to use the skills they might have learned to create for themselves job opportunities.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life is totally different because I am able to get what I did not have previously.I bought a gate which now enhances my home security something I only dreamt of earlier.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
By this time,I plan that I would have bought chicken for rearing which will act as a financial security to my family.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am now happy because of the transfer I received which I used to enhance my home security by buying a strong gate.I also was able to buy food to feed my family well.

I do not have any new goal as at now.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I had faced in life, was a constant struggle in renting a house for about twenty years. My family did not have a reliable source of income to help pay rent and sustain the family members needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day, is in the afternoon when we gather around the table as we share meals together as a family. I feel very happy whenever my school going children tell stories of their school life experiences.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on building housing structures for my livestock, as well as, my chicken.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of in life, is establishment of my own homestead and building a descent permanent house. In the past, I used to to live in a rental house although, I was struggling to pay rates.
