My life is currently different from how it was before I received the transfer in that, I now have a sense of hope in life. I feel I can plan something and achieve it. In my opinion, GiveDirectly changed the living standard of many people in our village by giving us unconditional cash transfers. Most people who received this help were able to develop their selves and improve their standards of living. I like this type of help where I am given the chance to choose how I want to change my life. I do not think there is anything that GiveDirectly is not doing right.

I spent part of my transfer to finish constructing my house which I had started building using the first transfer. My house looks decent now because I managed to even fix tiles on the floor. Part of the money was spent on buying a dairy cow since when it gives birth I will spare some for my family and sell some so as to get income. I did not own any of these before but I am glad that I now have my own. I finally invested the remaining amount in farming. I hired workers and bought farm inputs that I believe will earn me a lot of profit from the yields eventually after the harvest. I am glad that I did not take part in rotational ploughing with my group members which I was doing before I got this yield therefore, I will not divide my harvest this time round but have the whole harvest by myself

Biggest difference that the money has brought in my life is that I have been able to make tremendous adjustments and improvements on y house that I was never able to achieve in the past due to the heavy financial burden I have right now. Paying school fees for my children normally consumes more than thirty percent of my money, which leaves me with less amount of money to spend on other financial needs.

I felt so happy when I received the cash. It was early in the morning when I had just woken up.
