The biggest difference in my daily life is that l am now staying in a spacious comfortable house in my own home as compare to before when l was staying in a very small house at my father in-law's house where l was not comfortable.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the larger part of my first transfer on buying building materials such 7 pieces of iron sheets 5000 KES. I paid school fees for my two children who are in nursery school 2000 KES. I bought a half a bag of maize for my family's consumption 2000 KES and other perishable foods 500 KES. I also bought decent clothes of my children 500 KES.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received my first transfer in the morning ,truly speaking it felt like a dream and it took me some time to realize it was really the truth. I felt very happy and since then I believed that GiveDirectly works with the intentions of embracing development mainly to the poorest households in various communities and it does so through high levels of investigation as they did in my household.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Due to lack of resources, building a bigger house with metal roof, has been the biggest hardship we have faced.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evenings, when I'm doing the dishes after having supper.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
I feel very excited, because we intend to use the money to build a house with metal roof, because this one leaks when it rains, and this will make a big change in our lives.
