How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much lively because I have achieved alot through the cash transfers. I never thought that I would sleep under an iron roofed house. It is a dream come true for me and very soon I will be sleeping under an iron roofed house. I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for this opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to fulfill irs promise of helping the poor. There is no other organization that does what GiveDirectly has done. I have not seen or heard anything wrong that GiveDirectly could have done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfers to purchase construction materials such as iron sheets, bricks, timber, sand, cement, window and a door.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is being able to help my son acquire a motorcycle. This will help us all in the transportation issue which has always been a big challenge. Knowing that I can now move at any given time without worry makes me happy. In addition to this, m y son will also use this motorcycle as a means of generating income to support the entire family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt happy. This is because this money would now open doors to my family's growth like being able to contribute to my son's motorcycle.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer Ugx 1000000 to contribute and give to my son to buy a motorcycle. I then bought bricks Ugx 315000. I then used some of my money to buy some household items such as clothes, Utensils, basic needs like soap, sugar and food. I am saving up Ugx 150000 that together with my husband, we shall use as need arises.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one that I have is grass thatched and it is hard to maintain. Grass has become scarce and at my age, I don't have energy to look for it.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am listening to radio programs. I get advise on how to live.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is sickness. My husband was bewitched some time back but since then, he has been sickly. Each time he gets an attack, we have to part with some reasonable amount of money and yet there is no source of income. I sell part of the harvested food so as to raise money that can clear off medical bills. It is for this reason that I have some times had food shortage in my household
