How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Had it not for the transfers from GiveDirectly, I wouldn't have bought chicken which are currently my main source of income. On weekly basis, I collect an amount of not less than Kes 800 through sale of eggs alone. I also recall that the money enabled me to pay school fees for my children who are in secondary school. This ensure that they are well kept in school, studying and concentrating in the exams. Had it not for the money, I would still be faced with shortage /lack of food for the family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly does good by offering financial support to poor people to help them rise beyond their means in terms of unconditional cash transfers. There is really nothing that GD does wrong!
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the transfers on purchase of a wiremesh which has beem used in fencing my compound. I alsos spent some other amount in building a house which is currently used in storing cereals. I also paid school fees for my children who by the time were in high school.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am stress-free concerning school fee for my children. We have been struggling with casual work and running to school often to request for more time to get funds to pay. We have arrears that the funds helped us to reduce because a total of 100,000 KES is expected each term from us. We have 3 children in college and 4 in secondary schools. So the burden is heavy on us and we can only pay in bits. Give Directly funds lessened the burden for us big time and we are grateful.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy to receive funds from Give Directly. Kindly keep sending the transfers to us. We are so grateful and thankful to God for opening a door through Give Directly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent Give Directly funds to pay fee 30000 KES for my children in college and secondary schools, 15000 KES to buy a cow, poultry 5000 KES and the balance on food and clothes.
