Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The most significant impact is that I was able to access medical care courtesy of the cash transfer. I was on my sick bed and admitted for diabetes and pressure. My eyesight has been impaired as a result of the illness. I had no hope of survival. However, I am very delighted that I spent the cash transfer to purchase doors that have been fitted on my house. Previously, I had wooden doors that had been eaten up by termites. It was not safe at all. I am very grateful for the cash transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I heard a message on my phone at 06:00am, however I could not read it. I called upon my daughter who read the message for me. She informed me that GiveDirectly had sent me UGX 1730250. I felt very happy at that moment.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of the cash transfer to purchase doors worth UGX 350000 and UGX 200000 to purchase a solar panel. I gave my spouse UGX 250000. I plan to purchase livestock with the remaining cash transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to complete my iron-roofed house for rental and buy a cow. I currently do not have any source of earning yet Iam sickly and some times get stranded on treatment. The house once complete ,people will be renting thus providing me with money for upkeep like treatment and feeding. The cow will be like a custodian asset for future eventualities.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is afternoon hours. My spouse does not care about me after I suffered from diabetis and blood pressure. I feel so lonely except afternoon hours my grand children play around me. This makes me feel excite.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is sickness. Iam surving with both blood pressure and diabetis and this to much costly to treat. I some times feel like just committing sucide since it's difficult to manage these conditions at my poor level.
