How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Looking at my life now, a lot has improved, my health status improved after using the money I received in seeking medical attention. I also have a new house currently; well furnished and way too better compared to the initial one we had. The cow we also bought calved down some weeks ago and now we are no longer buying milk as we used to do but now among the sellers in the village. All these would not have happened if I had never received the transfer from GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The happiness that GiveDirectly brought home is an incomparable one. A lot changed and in my opinion, they did a very good job. The freedom we got on how we wanted to spend the money we received was the best part of it. We are now living a better life and we are not regretting anything at all since we believe that everything went well as we expected.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfer to me was so helpful, I had a lot of projects which I had started after receiving the first transfer and that was a good chance for me to complete them. I spent the first part of that second transfer on the construction of a new house to completion. I bought 22 iron sheets, hire a constructor and also used the remaining after in obtaining new furniture. With my children, we're now living a happy life after setting all things right.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Things are so different right now; we are happy because we are at a better economic level than before. We got everything that we needed such as food, bedding and seats because of the transfer. Visitors even have a place to sit when they come. We are grateful for Give Directly funds.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I received the funds. I called my children to the house to see the confirmation message and we were all elated. We then planned together how to spend the funds - building a house, buying a cow, household&farming items and food.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
If Give Directly officers were to come to my house today they would not recognize my home. I built a house using 7000 KES on wooden frames and 13200 KES iron sheets. I also bought 2 sofas 5000 KES, 2 beds 7200 KES, 2 mattresses 4500 KES, a cow 20,000 KES and the balance to buy farm tools, utensils and food. My homestead has changed a lot.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
God's love is unmeasurable! Receiving this money means that our living standard and level of education will improve a lot. I will spend the money on building a better house, food and a cow for my family. Besides, I will use some of the money to pay college fees for one of my kids. Subsequently, we shall enjoy better living standards. Thanks GD. I greatly thank God for remembering us.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at the morning when I wake up happy and healthy. After experiencing the horor of ailment, I feel that the life I am enjoying is a bonus. I never thought of a life beyond the disease - I can say I was 'halfdead' for about 1.5 years.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
If not for God's love and grace, I think I would not be alive by now. Between the years 2014 & 2016, I suffered from chronic tuberculosis - the ailment had devastating impacts on me and my family. We sold virtually all our belongings, and relied a lot on contributions from my villagers to clear hospital bills. Moreover, none of my kids has joined colleges nor secured good jobs because the disease drained our family of its finacial resources. Hence, we currently live below our expectations.
