How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I am now a happier person. This is because I now feed well despite the hard economy we are in where everything is costly. Also, I am almost relocating to my newly built house. I had never thought that I would ever been able to build such a house at my old age where I depend on my children for almost everything.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by sending us unconditional transfer and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I settled on building a more permanent house so that I will not be disturbing my children to come and help me apply mud on my house. On the remaining amount, I bought some new clothes and food to last us for some time.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My biggest difference in daily life is that I am now living a happy life. This is because I have been able to start building a decent house for my family something which had bothered me for so long. This would not have been possible had it not have been for GiveDirectly and I always thank God for leading them to my village.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was after I woke up that I decided to check my phone to know what time it was. When I realized that I had an unread message, I decided to read and know its content. Upon reading it, it dawned on me that GiveDirectly had finally honored their promise to me. I became so happy as I knew that my dream of living in a decent house would soon be fulfilled.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, my priority was to build a decent house for my family. Due to this reason, I spent some amount to buy some building materials majorly nails, timber, poles and paid a mason for this work. I am now glad since I am in the process of building a spacious house for my family. I settled on this so that I will no longer be asking for help from my children in terms of smearing mud. This is because I will cement the floor. I still have some amount which I am planning to use them in case of an emergency.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me venture into livestock keeping since at my age, i no longer have strength to work in the farm. I will therefore use the money to buy one dairy cow for milking and some goats and sheep for rearing in my farm.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my children are back home from school. I always have the feeling that they might be returned back home due to fee arrears and so i feel happy whenever they get a chance to study in school till evening,
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
After the demise of my husband 11 years ago, life has been full of challenges. I struggle paying schoolfees for my children as well as providing their needs. For now, i am too old to engage in any income grnerating activity such as casual jobs due to my poor health condition. This is what i consider as the biggest hardship i face
