The new goal I have set before receiving this transfer is to buy one small Ice box freezer to start.selling cold drinking water. No one is selling cold water in this village. Many people leave the community just to buy cold drinking water in the nearby biggest town. Since birth, this is the first of it kind to receive huge money from NGO freed . Thanks to Givedirectly for empowering me financially. I believe that with my planned to invest in to business, I will be able to generate more money to pay my son school fees.

In my opinion, Givedirectly is one of the best organizations in Liberia for now.Through Givedirectly direct cash supports to families, many people are now improving their dwelling houses to zinc. Thanks to Givedirectly for the cash support. There is no system in Givedirectly style of implementation that needs improvement.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The house I am currently living in I am paying rent per month. I pay a sum of $1,000 LRD every month and have been doing so for more than 2 years now. I am renting from my Aunty because I can not afford to construct my own house now. Due to the poor condition of where I am currently living, my spouse left me in search of a better sleeping place. If I am successful for GiveDirectly unconditional cash transfer program; I intend to use the money to construct my own house and to also establish business to sustain my family and I.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Climbing on palm trees with reeves to cut palm to feed my family is a very difficult job for one to do. Doing such a work and have not experienced any injury or incidence of falling from a palm tree brings me happiness. Besides, going through this hard struggle to enable me send my son to school and seeing him making a successful pass at the end of the academic year makes me to feel so happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major source of income has been palm cutting. This is the job I have been doing from age 13 time till now I am 29 years of age. Doing this work as a means of livelihood for more than 10 unbroken years is very difficult. Besides, it poses serious danger to my life and that of my family. I find myself engage with palm cutting because it is the only skills I have. Even up to present, I am still cutting palm to sustain my family and I. Finding an alternative to this source of income that will make me to leave palm cutting is the greatest challenge I am facing.
