How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the money I am very sure I could still be staying in a very small house that I was staying before because in i could not have managed to build a new house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did a very good think buy give people money directly and not using third party, it could have attracted alot of conflicts and corruption.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to add more building materials and built a house. I was going through a lot because I did not have proper house to stay in, the house I was staying was too small and it was in a bad condition that it was almost falling down. I was so much worried because I do not have money to build a new one, being that I do not have stable income and my spouse also had past on. So when I received the money i spent it to build a house since it was my first priority and I am very happy because I have managed to achieve my dream and now I am staying in a nice spacious comfortable house. My children too are very happy and proud that they are now able to invite their friends to visit them which they could not do before. The remaining balance I spent on medication since I was very sick and I could not get better treatment being that I did not have money. I am now feeling better and I can perform my households duties.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build a new house for my family. The current one is very old in that the iron sheets are very rusty and whenever it rains, the roof tends to leak a lot. Termites have also weakened the timber that was used to build it thus its wall is also very weak.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am with my children sharing stories and a meal in our small kitchen.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am facing is inability to have a stable source of income to rely on. I am a single parent and my income as a rope seller does not generate a lot if income. On so many nights, my children have been forced to go to bed hungry when I could not afford to buy food. They have also been chased away from school when I could not pay their fees on time and all this suffering by my children hurts me a lot
