How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have a dairy cow and five goats which I did not had before. I do small business of selling maize at the small Center near my house. The small amount of profit that I get from this business I used it to buy basic household needs including the milk which is so compulsory. At some point when there is no sales my children could go without milk. I could used part of the capital to buy this needs and it was making my business not to break-even. When I receive the money from GiveDirectly I bought a dairy cow. This has enable me to cut the cost of buying milk which was so expensive. This has also make my business at this point to break-even. I am planning to sell the surplus milk to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. I am so happy because without GiveDirectly I would be still struggling to meet this needs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor people in the community to build better houses, pay school and clothes for their children. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to buy five goats, dairy cow, sofa set seats, tables and the rest of the money I used it to buy other basic household needs and clothes for my children.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was preparing breakfast for my sons who by then were initiates an I heard a message notification on my phone. I was so excited that I jumped up and down and rushed to tell my father about the message and he too was overwhelmed with joy.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My children are looking the tidiest and neatest ever since I had bought them clothes from the transfers. My house also looks tidy and welcoming since I bought the seat cushions because earlier on, we used to sit on them without the cushions. I would also not have been able to plough my shamba in order to plant the maize that I want to in the next week.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought a cow and I plan to buy 2 goats which will make me the proudest cow and goat owner. I also bought cushions for my seats , bought a cupboard and clothes for each household member. I also used the transfer to plough 2 acres of land which I plan to plant maize and beans.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Am single mother of two children and getting milk for them is hard since have to buy every day from my neighbor which I normally spend around $3 in a month. It has been a challenge to me because I don't have daily income. Receiving Givedirectly transfer I bought a esher heifer at a cost of $40 which will give more products of milk as per our weather here. The remaining amount,I will use to start a business of buying and selling maize at my nearby poshomill hence transforming me to have income to sustain my family with food stuffs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My duties since I wake up is to look for my family basic needs, where I spent most of time at market place checking for casual jobs of which I return home tiresome. In the evening when I come back to meet my children, this where am very happy because I will have dinner with them.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My dreams living here as never comes true being a single mother like this. Have been struggling to have business at this nearby market but in vein due to lack of capital now that Givedirectly you have come I now know that my all aspirations will come true.
