How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because I'm sleeping in permanent house which is very spacious. Before, I slept in a leaking thatched house which was very small for me and the children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by helping me to building permanent house and got things which I never had like a mattress.GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought building materials( sand, cement, iron sheets, nails, bricks), food ( cassava flour) and labour.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The change in my daily life is that, I am happy because I have building my house. On top of that, I have been able to acquire basic necessities like utensils, bedding, clothes and meeting treatment bills.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my cash transfer, I felt happy because I had been relieved from the burden of household challenges like poor accommodation, bedding, treatment, to mention. My household had been struggling a lot to meet basic necessities.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1700000 for buying bricks, utensils, a mattress, bed sheets, jerrycans, clothes and meeting treatment bills. I do not remember exactly how much each item costed me due to old age. The intention of buying those items is to support in building my house and improving on living standards.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I intend to use the money for building ironroofed house for my family, since i sleep under small grass thatched roof which some times leaks.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest moments is always evenings time , I share good ideas with my children.This makes me smile.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of food to feed my family. My family some days goes to bed without a meal.
