How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I had a plan to do business. I have been working so hard to gather enough money so that I could expand my business. I have struggled a lot with farming and I did not understand my life at all. However, since GiveDirectly came,my life have been transform greatly. I am so pleased to have benefited from this unique program.

I was suffering and GD came and took poverty from my life. I feel so relieved at the moment. GD has transformed my life completely. Thank God for this unique opportunity provided me by GiveDirectly.

I use my most recent transfer to purchase more goods and expand my business. This business will serve as an additional source of income for me to cater to my family. Portion of my transfer was also saved and will be used to pay my children yearly tuition for this academic year. I am grateful for their great financial assistance.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to add up to my already existing business. Before receiving payments from GiveDirectly was a farmer. Farming in Liberia is so difficult. We dont have machines and other farming materials. We work hard all day. Most times we dont get enough money to sustain our family. Things were difficult. I was so happy when I received my transfer. I know my life will never be the same again.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does not do anything wrongly. It's cash program has changed my life for the better. I was a farmer cutting palmnuts all day to make oil. Customers could hardly buy due to lack of money. GiveDirectly came to my town with its cash program. A dream come true. I started a business and it has been going so well. I am so grateful.

Before receiving payments from GiveDirectly things were a bit difficult for me. I am a farmer. I could harldy sustain my family. I was overwhelmed when I received my transfer. How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have been planning how to make my life a better one as a young man coming up in life. Due to the hardship I am facing, it is hard for me to archieve the goals of my life. I have been doing so many businesses but these businesses can not improve due to limited funding. The coming of GiveDirectly into our town had brought happiness into our town. I am happy also because my transfer will help me a lot to accomplish my goals.

Every poor man or woman that is being helped by GiveDirectly is a blessing for them to make used pf. We are so happy for this because there is nothing that is not done well by GiveDirectly when it comes to elevating poverty.

It has been very impossible for me to archive my dreams in expanding my business, but the help of GiveDirectly, I am going to increase my business and be happy because I believe that business pays more. Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
"I have not been able to receive such amount free of charge. When I got the message on my phone, I was very happy. Not only did the message come to me with happiness, but it made me to believe that there are some people or organizations that are true to their words. As such, I plan to use this money to improve my business. My business has been so small and after getting this money I confident that it will grow bigger".
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
"I am more relax than before,because I used to be up very early in the morning to go and work on people farms just to survive,but I now know that i am my own boss." I started little business from money I acquired from cutting and processing palm oil locally. This is a process that can even make someone older before their time. I can see for yourself that the relaxation is making me to increase in size. I can assure you that the next time you come here you will not even recognize me".

"I'm planning to buy additional two barrel of gasoline to add to the little one I am selling now. I am sure that when all of the transfers come to my phone, I will be able to increase my business. I plan to transition from selling gallons of gasoline to building a mini gasoline station. This will allow me to do both wholesale and retail".

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am selling gas in my community which is a good business. I have people that are really buying from me. Most of them are bike riders and some are also my friends. So with the cash transfer, I want to add up my business by selling motor bike parts. In my community, there is no one selling motor bike parts. I believe when I invest my cash into this business I will gain alot of money because there are more bikes running on this road and some might need other parts to service their motor bike regularly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Few months ago things were very difficult for me. I would have to go in the bush to cut palm just to survive, which is very straneous. This had me worried and was very stressed up. But from last year August upto today, I have a business of me own that I am selling and feel very relax. This has broght me so much joy because I no more find myself in the bush and cutting palm to make oil before I can have a daily bread.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challengeI am facing now, is the deplorable road conditions .I am doing a gas business which is helping me. But I find it difficult geting more profit from the gas I am selling because , I most often send my money by the truck drivers to buy my gas and bring it for me. When I send my money for gas,it takes upto three weeks before I get my gas to start selling. When I send my money by bikes, there are huge chages that I pay for transportation fare. Most often I don't really realize the profit from the gas business.
