How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much relaxed because I acquired an ox for farming. More so, I was able to hire a farm land and this has enabled us to cultivate numerous food crops. In the past, I had only two plots of land that could not sustain the family food supply. I am very grateful that GiveDirectly came to our aid.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Truthfully GiveDirectly has only done great things for the communities. For instance they sent cash transfers to the poor without segregation.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to purchase an ox worth UGX 850000 and I lent out UGX 300000 in return I accessed a farm land. I gifted my children UGX 60000. I bought household utensils like a big sauce pan, porcelain plates and cups worth UGX 107000 and household items such as a mattress and clothes worth UGX 164000. I plan to spend the balance of UGX 151000 to hire another piece of land.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money would help me purchase land for crop cultivation. The garden I have is small and I cannot produce much food for the family. The balance of the money will be used to buy oxen for ploughing since I keep on begging people to plough for me whenever the farming season kicks off.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest time is Luch time. This is the time Iam chatting with my grand children and seeing them playing.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I'm faced with is that my house is not plasterd and I am worried that a snake might attack me one day. Besides that, rats have started digging holes in the house and are eating the food in the house.
