My new goal is to enroll myself in a teaching college. I have desired to be advance my teaching skills by enrolling in a college. This will ensure that I am equipped with the right skill and increase my chances of being employed by the government. Currently, I am an unskilled Early Childhood Development teacher at the nearby primary school in our village.

In my opinion, sending unconditional cash transfers to the less fortunate households was the best decision the GiveDirectly did well. In addition, the enrollment stages were done was fair and each household in the village was included in the program. In my opinion, I can say is nothing was not done well.

I spent the KES 48,000 of the recent transfer in purchasing animals feeds. We were experiencing drought and lack of pasture and water. This was a great disaster considering that I depend on livestock farming as my main job. I decided to spend most of the transfer to purchase hay and water for my six dairy cows and 30 goats. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuff for my family of 5 members since we had food shortages.

It was around 9 a.m. and I was in my house. My husband and I had just finished having our breakfast when I heard the message notification on my phone. I checked it and to my amazement, I had received KES 55,000. I felt so excited because I could finally make my dreams of going back to school come true.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have the money to enable me to achieve my dream of becoming a business owner. I have dreamt of owning a tailoring business for as long as I can remember. However, I haven't been able to because I could not afford to enroll in a college to gain the necessary skills. I work as an ECD teacher and earn KES 7,000 a month. This amount is not enough to enable me to save up for school fees while providing for food, house rent and clothing for my family of three. This situation has made me sad since five years ago when I completed my high school education. I have always wished for a good Samaritan to donate even just KES 10,000 towards my tuition fees. Thankfully, this transfer has changed that. I plan to enroll in school very soon. The knowledge I will gain from the course will empower me to run my business effectively. The earnings from that will enable me to provide for my family's needs. I have a renewed hope in life and my aspirations, and this makes me so happy.

My biggest aspiration in life is to own a tailoring business. This has not been realised yet due to financial constraints. Since I completed my high school education five years ago, I have had to pick up menial jobs to earn money. Currently, I work as an ECD teacher earning KES 7,000 a month. It's not enough to cater for my family's basic needs, and so I have been unable to save up enough to enroll in college. I, therefore, plan to spend KES 51,000 to pay school fees for my tailoring course. This will enable me to gain the necessary skills I need to run my business. I already spent KES 3,370 on foodstuff including maize flour, rice and beans to ensure we have enough food for the household.
