What does receiving this money mean to you?
Since I roof this house two years ago, I have not been able to purchase cement to plaster and lay the floor. I don't have bed in my room. I have two of my children attending the University of Liberia and two are still in high school, so I I have a lot to do with cash . If I am eligible, I will use portion of my transfer towards my children education, if there is surplus, I will buy cement to plaster and lay the floor for this house. I will be very happy if my two children in the university can graduate and start working to help the others who are still in high school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have was sick for five years, I went many places but to no avail, until recently I went to Harper for treatment at the government hospital there. My feet have been troubling me, complicated with my sight. I was very happy on the 23rd of this January 2022 when I returned back and feeling very well, strong and healthy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My children are in school now, none of them is working yet to extend help to us here in the interior. Everything they need for school has to come from us here and we don't have sustainable source of income. We depend on farming to enable us support their school, but this year was a bad year for us because the grasscutter destroy the rice on the farm so, we have a very poor harvest. Because of that, finance is our major challenge for now because we are thinking about how to get cash to pay their fees in school. With GiveDirectly coming to give us cash grant, I am happy because it will really solved some of our problems.
