How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been had I nit received the transfer because I am about to cement my house. This will make it more permanent and cleaning will have been made easier. Also, I am a proud owner of a dairy cow. I believe that it will be calving very soon and my family will always have enough milk for consumption and sale.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by deciding to give us a financial support and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent a good amount from my second transfer to buy a dairy cow. I settled on this so that whenever I drink or sale milk, I feel the joy that GiveDirectly brought into my life. On the remaining amount, I bought some basic needs for my family. I bought three sacks of maize and other household necessities.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought materials ready to cement the floor of my house. I depend on small scale farming to earn an income by selling the produce at the market. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and could only gather for the basic needs and school fees for my children. We live in a dusty floor house that exposes us to dust and respiratory diseases which are so expensive to treat. I was so worried about the uncertainties that might happen to us. Currently, I have bought the materials in place and this had given me hope that my wish will be fulfilled. When I have cemented the house My family will no longer be exposed to dust. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has given us hope which was absent before.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my money I felt so happy. I remember it was very early in the morning when I heard a message from my phone. When I checked it was a message confirming that I have received a sum of 55000KES from GiveDirectly. I immediately inform my family members who really celebrated. We planned that morning on how to spend the money with my spouse.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spend my first transfer to buy materials to cement the floor of my house and the rest of the money I used it to buy food and beddings for my siblings.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to finally complete my house.I built a one bedroom wooden house but due to financial constraints I was not able to plaster the floors. This is an opportunity to complete this so that I can focus on other things.I have also been keeping two cows belonging to a relative because I do not have one of my own. Therefore ,I will use half of the transfer to buy one dairy cow as a means of investing it.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Going about my daily activities during the day makes my entire day generally happy. After completing my work around the home e.g repairing fences and clearing the compound,I leave for a nearby center where I have set up a small butchery to substitute income from farming. While there,I get time to interract with so many people and this makes my day very lively
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Raising a family without any m guaranteed source of income has always been the biggest hardship I have faced. In this area, the main economic activity is crop and livestock farming.Over the past few years, the rains have not been reliable and we have experienced prolonged periods of drought. This has really been a difficult moment because without a good harvest all the needs of the family including fees for the children becomes a challenge and aside from that I have to work extra hard to ensure that there is food on the table each day.
