Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My home was very happy on this particular day. I was very proud and my children rejoiced at the thought of us having money. I did not expect to be helped in this way. I was happy for my life to change for the better. I knew that I could now afford a decent place to sleep while fixing my house. My house roofing used to leak which made rainy nights very difficult for me and my family. With this money I was able to buy a good sleeping mat, beddings as well as sealing my roof to avoid firther leaks.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am now sleeping on a decent place and I can go to my farm with such ease of mind. Before I fixed my house with money from the Givedirectly cash transfers, I was restlessly worried that someone would steal my little belongings from my exposed house. I also keep chickens in my house to avoid thwm being stolen when I am away.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
This money was mostly spent on improving my house. The bedroom wall of my house had fallen entirely and I had put up plastic sheets to help minimize rain dripping entirely into the house. Once my wife brought this money to our home I immediately called a buildre to come and fix the house.
